Manitou 14 Touring Kayak
I think that Manitou 14 Kayak is a very good kayak. It has great stability and it has good tracking. I use it in the local river which can be very rough at certain points. I can say for sure that this boat will hold even in extreme conditions.
The advantages of this kayak are: it has good tracking, it goes really fast (it has good speed), it has good stability, it has a skeg and you have a pretty nice storage space compared to other kayaks. The only disadvantage is that it is a bit heavy, although you should expect this because it’s made from plastic.
A really good thing about the Manitou 14 Kayak is that you don’t need to worry if you’re a more solid person, because it has an adjustable seat and awesome foot pegs. But for good measure, you should ask at the shop if you can try to sit in it, you don’t want to have a surprise after you bought it.
I wanted a different kayak; I wanted a longer one to be sure that I can fit in it. I am 5’7 ” tall and weigh 182 lbs. But I was offered to try the 14’ one and it was perfect. Compared to my old kayak, it is really fast and I can handle it easily. Even though it is 14’ and it is plastic, it fits perfectly when you put it on the roof rack.
When I’m paddling, I feel like I’m cutting through air with the kayak. The length makes it really easy to control and there is less water coming in the cockpit. Even though it has a skeg, I prefer using the paddles to correct for the windage. But, it is a really nice added bonus to have the option to use the skeg.
